We're Married

Today we had our wedding blessed in a small church down in Killarney after our civil marriage on Wednesday. It was small affair for close family & friends - it made for a nice day. Looking forward to our honeymoon.......

Fortified town of Carcassonne

We started off staying in Carcasonne for a couple of days. A really beautiful fortified town. It dates back to 3500BC! The fortified town has small little shops and restaurants and is a place really to be seen, a nice place to start the honeymoon. A great place to be where I started reading the Da Vinci Code - very apt setting.

Hotel de la Cite

We had already planned to return to spend one night in the lavish - Hotel de la Cite, for the last night. Coming back turned to put a nice ending to our honeymoon.

Château de Riell

The next stop for us was to head down towards the Perpignan area to stay at the gorgeous Château de Riell. We had a lovely outhouse apartment set next to the swimming pool. We did a bit of exploring around the area and came across of lovely quaint village called Eus. It proved to be one of the great finds. Where we headed to next turned out to be a real let down. Looking for a non tourist & cultural setting I found a place on the internet called Ceret. Unfortunately it didn't live upto our expectation's, and everything was looking grim. I went to the nearest Tabac and looked at the postcards to get some inspiration for where we could head to. There I found cards for a place called Collioure. I checked the map and it didn't look too far away so we decided that the next day we would drive down to take a look. My only regret was that we didn't check out and take our bags with us. It was wonderful. Luckily we found a hotel to stay in & headed straight back to Ceret to collect our stuff.
